Is Brunch Becoming the New Girls’ Night Out?

I’ve noticed something lately. The group chat that used to start around 9pm with “Drinks tonight?” now begins much earlier with a far better question: “Brunch this weekend?”

Somewhere along the way, girls’ night quietly moved to daylight hours.

It makes sense when you think about it. Life has shifted. Between Pilates classes, busy workweeks, and calendars that somehow fill themselves, the idea of staying out late has lost a bit of its sparkle. Brunch, on the other hand, fits perfectly into the rhythm of the weekend. You can start the morning with a workout, put on something cute, meet your friends for a proper meal, and still have the whole afternoon ahead of you.

And brunch still gives you a reason to dress up. Not in the full late-night sense, but in that effortless weekend way. Sundresses, great sunglasses, maybe a polished athleisure look if you came straight from Pilates. It’s social, a little stylish, and just indulgent enough to feel like a treat.

Then there are the mimosas. A table dotted with bright citrus glasses immediately changes the mood. One round arrives, someone suggests another, glasses clink, and suddenly the table is full of laughter and the week’s stories unfolding in no particular order.

Brunch also moves at a better pace. No loud music. No rushing to the next place. Just good food, sparkling drinks, and the kind of conversation that stretches comfortably across the table.

At The Edison, brunch tends to unfold this way. Tables overlooking Cascades Park fill with friends easing into the morning, sharing plates, and settling into the weekend together.

So it makes you wonder.

Is brunch becoming the new girls’ night out?
