Homecoming, the Local Way: The Edison Team's Guide to Tallahassee

Catch Taj at The Edison main bar, serving up the best drinks in town!

FSU Homecoming is the perfect excuse to revisit your old favorites, discover a few new ones, and remember what makes this town so special.

To help you make the most of your weekend, I asked a few members of The Edison team to share their favorite things to do around Tallahassee. From local hangouts to campus traditions, here's how we'd spend Homecoming weekend.

Florida History at the Capitol

Dave | General Manager

Dave recommends taking a little time to explore one of Tallahassee's most recognizable landmarks: the Historic Florida Capitol. With its iconic red-and-white awnings, beautiful architecture, and fascinating exhibits, it's a great place to appreciate the history of Florida's capital city. Take a walk around the Capitol grounds, snap a few photos, and enjoy a bit of Tallahassee history before heading back into the Homecoming festivities.

A Little Friendly Competition at The Wilbury

Emma | Bar Manager

Emma's recommendation is simple: grab your friends and head to The Wilbury for a game of pool. It's a laid-back Tallahassee hangout where you can catch up over drinks, challenge an old roommate, and settle a few friendly rivalries. Some things are just as fun as they were in college!

A Parade Full of Seminole Spirit

Taj | Bartender

Taj's pick is a true FSU Homecoming tradition: the Homecoming Parade! Head out on Friday afternoon to see the colorful floats, student organizations, Marching Chiefs, and plenty of garnet-and-gold pride. It's a fun way to celebrate with friends, cheer on your fellow Seminoles, and get into the Homecoming spirit before the big game. Whether you're a current student or returning alum, there's nothing quite like seeing Tallahassee come together for a little FSU pride!

Game Day, the Right Way

Ryan | Owner

For Ryan, nothing beats spending game day with family at Doak Campbell Stadium. His ideal Homecoming Saturday involves settling into the club seats, enjoying the game in comfort, and taking in the energy of a stadium full of Seminoles. After all, there's nothing quite like being back in Doak!

Sunrise at Cascades Park

Adam | Owner

While most of Tallahassee is still sleeping, you'll find Adam getting an early start. His recommendation is a sunrise run through Cascades Park, where the paths, fresh morning air, and peaceful surroundings offer a perfect start to a busy weekend. It's a great way to see another side of Tallahassee before the game day crowds arrive.

A Walk Down Memory Lane

Kate | Director of Catering & Private Events

Kate recommends setting aside some time to wander through FSU's beautiful campus. Revisit your favorite buildings, stop by the iconic Westcott Fountain, admire the statues, and see what's changed since your college days. Take plenty of pictures, enjoy the nostalgia, and whatever you do, resist the urge to go swimming in the fountains. Some college traditions are better left in the past!

Coffee and a Stroll Around Lake Ella

Adria | Events Manager

For a slower start to the day, Adria suggests one of Tallahassee's most charming spots: Lake Ella. Grab a coffee from Black Dog Cafe, take a leisurely walk around the lake, and enjoy a little quiet time away from the Homecoming excitement. It's a local favorite for good reason, and a lovely way to spend a morning.

Pickleball With Your Old Crew

Andrea | Manager

Andrea's recommendation brings a little competition back to campus. Round up your old college friends for a game of pickleball! It's a fun way to get everyone together, burn off a little energy, and find out who still takes winning just as seriously as they did in college. Just be sure to check court availability before heading out.

Coming Together for Homecoming

Kaylie | Assistant General Manager

For Kaylie, the best part of Homecoming is seeing families and old friends back together in Tallahassee, making memories and cheering on the Noles. And of course, the perfect ending to the weekend would be an FSU win!

And Finally, Come Hungry!

Chef Morgan | Executive Chef

After all that exploring, cheering, walking, and catching up, Chef Morgan has one final recommendation: come hungry and make your way to The Edison!

His pick? Our 14 oz. Black Angus Ribeye, featuring locally raised, dry-aged beef from Jerkins Angus Farm in nearby Bristol, Florida. Hand-cut and served with whipped potatoes and grilled asparagus, it's a delicious example of the quality ingredients and local partnerships we're proud to bring to the table.

Located in Tallahassee's historic City Electric Building at Cascades Park, The Edison is the perfect place to bring everyone together, enjoy a great steak, raise a glass, and swap a few more stories from the good old college days.

There's No Place Like Tallahassee

Homecoming is about more than football. It's about familiar places, favorite people, and making a few new memories along the way.

Whether you're back for the weekend or lucky enough to call Tallahassee home, we hope you'll enjoy some of our team's favorite local traditions.

And when it's time to gather everyone around the table, we'd love to welcome you to The Edison.

Happy Homecoming, and Go Noles!
